Your Team

Your Team here is fully committed and passionate about helping anyone who wants to achieve and maintain successful Weight Loss.  We have all gone through our own weight loss, so we understand what you are going through and the type of support and accountability you need.  We offer a medically supervised weight loss program, which we customize for each patient.  Each program is comprehensive, which has been shown  to maximize both weight loss and maintenance.  We are ready to support and motivate the people of Delmarva to live a healthy life.

Gail C.S. Anderson, M.D.  (“Dr. Gail”)

Dr. Gail left her Radiation Oncology practice in 2009 to intensively study medical weight loss and build this new practice.  She has developed a unique program blending what she learned from the best scientific evidence available.  We believe she’s the only physician on Delmarva focused full time on non-surgical weight loss.

During 25 years in radiation oncology (15+ years in our area), Dr. Gail despaired of seeing many of her cured cancer patients later suffering or dying from high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and some other cancers.  Weight loss helps prevent or control these debilitating conditions.

These concerns led Dr. Gail to aid the development of Healthy U - Delmarva; she was called “The Godmother of Healthy U”.  As she read the emerging medical literature showing that cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, and many cancers share some common causal factors, Dr. Anderson also learned that avoiding obesity may be the single most important factor in improving longevity.

Due to her involvement with Healthy U, Dr. Anderson felt compelled to “practice what she preached,” so she applied what she’d learned to drop over 50 lbs, a weight loss she’s maintained since 2005. Her interest in obesity medicine grew from a concern to her medical hobby -- and then to her passion. Gradually, Dr. Gail realized that she’d rather work to prevent disease than need to treat it.

Her credentials:  B.A. from Yale, with Honors; Medical School at Tufts University in Boston.  Board Certified as a diagnostic radiologist, she missed direct patient care, so Dr. Gail trained at Yale to become Board Certified in Radiation Oncology.  Dr. Gail also was one of the first physicians to earn certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, demonstrating her expertise in and commitment to this new field.  She’s been helping patients lose weight, feel great, and maintain their weight loss since 2011.

Now … Dr. Gail’s passion is YOUR weight loss!

Unlike most weight loss offerings, Dr. Gail is personally and intensively involved in each patient’s care, treating every patient as she would want to be treated

Michelle Lidinsky
Program Manager

"It has been almost five years (maybe more by the time you read this) that I have been helping patients here at Dr. Anderson’s Medical Weight Loss.  Time flies when you’re having fun!  I have been fortunate to learn something from each and every patient that has journeyed through our Program.  Many share some of the same struggles and challenges that I face, while others bring new difficulties to strategize through.  With Dr. Gail’s guidance, for each patient, I am a teacher as well as a student.  Working together to solve problems, as well as offering support and encouragement, makes my job very rewarding.  I have witnessed many patients make lifestyle changes that transform their lives.  I am truly gratified when I see patients improving their health and feeling the energy that weight loss can bring!"

Dr. Gail adds:  Michelle has been my right-hand gal since before we opened.  My patients love her, so do I and I bet you will, too.

Patient Service Specialist

"Sam" is your Patient Service Specialist.  She greets you with a friendly smile on arrival, assists you and Dr. Gail with your care here, and does so much more.  Sam herself says:

“The opportunity to work at Dr. Anderson’s Weight Management Practice is the perfect fit for me. Only two years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at the young age of 19. Upon learning that, I immediately had to start making changes in the way I was feeding and treating my body.  My eyes were opened even wider when taking my Diabetes Education Program. I enjoy using meal replacements as a tasty and nutritious way to help me manage my weight. These meal replacements have been an easy way to feel full while still taking in the nutrition my body needs. I very much enjoy working with patients with challenges similar to my own.”
